No \u00e2mbito do projecto de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o \u00abOs Gabinetes Coloniais de Urbaniza\u00e7\u00e3o \u2013 Cultura e Pr\u00e1tica Arquitect\u00f3nica\u00bb, viajou na companhia de Eduardo Costa Dias, soci\u00f3logo e visita constante na Guin\u00e9 desde a independ\u00eancia, e Paulo Tormenta Pinto, arquitecto. At\u00e9 ao desembarque, a imagem que Ana Vaz Milheiro tinha da Guin\u00e9-Bissau baseava-se nas pesquisas documentais, iniciadas tr\u00eas anos antes, recolhidas em livros e op\u00fasculos, desenhos, projectos e documentos. Do cruzamento das imagens dos edif\u00edcios com os projectos arquivados em Lisboa sa\u00edram as primeiras narrativas sobre Bissau. Faltava, no entanto, o confronto com a cidade real. O livro faz parte da colec\u00e7\u00e3o Viagens, cujo objectivo \u00e9 construir um mapa afectivo de viagens singulares realizadas por personagens reconhecidas da cultura arquitect\u00f3nica.
