A necessidade de repensar e reconsiderar o Modernismo na actualidade justifica a iniciativa da edi\u00e7\u00e3o fac-similada deste cat\u00e1logo essencial. A publica\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 ainda valorizada com um anexo encartado que re\u00fane textos cr\u00edticos de Barry Bergdoll, curador de arquitectura e design do MoMa entre 2007 e 2013, e de Delfim Sardo, professor universit\u00e1rio, curador e ensa\u00edsta.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As ideias de v\u00e1rios arquitectos progressistas convergiram para formar um estilo genuinamente novo que se est\u00e1 a espalhar rapidamente por todo o mundo. Tanto na apar\u00eancia como na estrutura, este estilo \u00e9 peculiar ao s\u00e9culo XX e \u00e9 fundamentalmente original como o grego, ou bizantino ou g\u00f3tico. Nas p\u00e1ginas seguintes, Hitchcock e Johnson delinearam a sua hist\u00f3ria e a sua extens\u00e3o. Devido ao seu desenvolvimento simult\u00e2neo em v\u00e1rios pa\u00edses e devido \u00e0 sua distribui\u00e7\u00e3o mundial, tem sido chamado de estilo internacional.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Esta publica\u00e7\u00e3o foi realizada em parceria com a Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa e com o Museu de Arte Moderna. Edi\u00e7\u00e3o Fac-similada do Cat\u00e1logo da primeira Exposi\u00e7\u00e3o de Arquitectura do MoMA.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"subtitle\">Let&#8217;s Talk About Houses<\/h2>\n<div id=\"inner_content\">\n<div class=\"text_content\">In the end of Lisbon Triennale 2010, we\u2019ve launched the Facsimile edition of the catalogue of the first exhibition of architecture made at MoMA, educational institution funded back in 1929, considered today as one of the most influential museums of modern art in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Held in 1932, this exhibition constitutes a fundamental framework in the history of architecture. From Barry Bergdoll, curator of architecture and design of MoMA between 2007 and 2013, and Delfim Sardo, university professor curator and essayist. This publication was published in partnership with the Lisbon Architecture Triennale and with the MoMA.<\/p>\n<p>(&#8230;)\u201dthe ideas of a number of progressive architects have converged to form a genuinely new style which is rapidly spreading throughout the world. Both in appearance and structure this style is peculiar to the twentieth century and is a fundamentally original as the Greek, or Byzantine or Gothic.\u00a0In the following pages Mr. Hitchcock and Mr. Johnson have outlined its history and its extent. Because of its simultaneous development in several countries and because of its world-wide distribution it has been called the international style.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This publication was produced in partnership with the Lisbon Architecture Triennale and the Museum of Modern Art.
